This low-fat and limited fiber diet is great for those with IBS, and it may help others with various gastrointestinal disorders as well.
What to Avoid With This Diet
Fructose is found in many foods as a sugar. It is in honey, corn syrup and high fructose corn syrup and some fruits.
Lactose is another word for dairy products, so all foods like milk, cheese, yogurt and ice cream should be avoided. There are some substitutes available for these foods that do not include lactose.
Fructans can be found in foods like onion, inulin, wheat and garlic.
These foods include lentils, beans and soybeans. They are often the foods that are most responsible for excess gas and bloating, which can be very painful.
These are sweeteners that have ingredients like isomalt, sorbitol and mannitol in them, and they also include fruits like cherries, plums, apricots, peaches and nectarines, which have stone pits.
